The History of Bluffton Church

 

 

 

 Mr. and Mrs. I.I. Brown came to Bluffton in the early 1900's and settled in "Brown's" community. In 1927 they went on a mission trip to Persia for one year. Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Harer and Grace came and filled in for a year. Then the Browns came back and stayed until 1945. The Harers then moved here and took over the ministry in April, 1948, due to the declining health of Mr. Brown

  Sunday School was started on October 3, 1037 in the old school building which was also being used as a school at the time. The present building was built in 1963 by Jack Lindsey. Preacher Harer continued Sunday School until his heart attack in January, 1983. Different ones filled in, including Don Adams, whose family came full time in June of 1983.

 

 In Octob er, 1990, Bluffton Sunday School was organized as a church and drew up a church constitution and statement of faith. Then, in October, 1002, they began having a seperate morning worship service as well as the Sunday School time. Bluffton Church desires to continue to grow, to serve, and to glorify God.
